Brief Description
The Children's Act of 2001 provides for protection against early marriage and female genital mutilation (Section 14) and prevention of consequential health and education implications. The law has removed ambiguity and contradictions in the age of marriage by stipulating that the minimum age of marriage for both boys and girls is 18 years.
